Paris - The trial of the accused Nazi collaborator, Mr Maurice Papon, took another dramatic turn yesterday when his lawyer, Mr Arno Klarsfeld, unexpectedly dropped a threat to ask for the removal of presiding Judge Jean-Louis Castagnede.
Mr Klarsfeld and his father, a Nazi-hunter, Mr Serge Klarsfeld, had declared themselves "at war" with Judge Castagnede because he released Mr Papon on bail for the length of the trial.
