Boxing:Katie Taylor gave further evidence of why she is rated the best female fighter in the world by claiming gold at the Ahmet Comert Cup in Istanbul today.
The World lightweight champion beat local hero Ozlem Dinc 5-1 and also picked up both the best female boxer and overall boxer of the tournament awards.
Belfast’s Carl Frampton also took gold in the featherweight division following a 1-0 win over Turkish featherweight Cetin Ozdemir.
But Paddy Barnes, a bronze medal winner at the 2008 Olympics, had to settle for silver after he was withdrawn from his light flyweight final with Turkey’s Ferhat Pehlivan because of a viral infection.
Ireland captain Eric Donovan claimed bronze after he was edged out 4-2 by Cuban Olympian Idil Leal in Saturdays 60Kg semi final.
