Leading low-cost European airline Ryanair denied weekend press reports that it had chosen Charleroi airport in Belgium as its new European hub.

"No decision has been made yet. The company is still in negotiation with four airports," a spokeswoman for Ryanair said today.

The airports concerned are Stockholm, Pisa in Italy, Frankfurt and Charleroi.

The spokeswoman said the company would announce its new routes this Wednesday and the new European base would probably be announced next week.

Belgium's L'Echonewspaper said on Saturday the company planned to base two aircraft at Charleroi airport, increasing the number to four next year.
