Pensioners targeted in NI burglaries

An 84-year-old woman has been left badly shaken after a burglary at her east Belfast home yesterday.

An 84-year-old woman has been left badly shaken after a burglary at her east Belfast home yesterday.

At about 8pm last night, she was disturbed by two men who had broken into her Titania Street home through a kitchen window.

One of the assailants kept her in her chair while the other searched the house. They escaped with an undisclosed quantity of cash.

The woman was left shocked but was not physically injured. Police have appealed for witnesses to contact them.

Meanwhile, an 86-year-old woman was robbed at her home in Glengormley, Co Antrim.

Four masked men broke into the Harmin Park premises at about 10.30pm last night and escaped with a sum of cash. She was unhurt.

Detectives investigating both incidents appealed for witnesses to contact them.
