A 27-year old man suffered serious head injuries when assaulted in Newbridge, Co Kildare last night.
The attack took place on Main Street, Newbridge at 1.50 a.m.
The man was taken to hospital where is condition is described as serious.
Gardaí investigating the incident are following a line of inquiry.
