The second Irish army contingent to serve with the United Nations in Eritrea and Ethiopia will be reviewed by Minister for Defence Mr Michael Smith this afternoon.

The contingent - consisting of 212 personnel mainly drawn from the 4th Infantry Battalion, 1st Southern Brigade - will serve a six-month tour.

Their duties will include providing security to convoys and mobile patrolling.
