Medical officers in the Irish Defence Forces and a key medical position in An Garda Síochána are among the new health jobs on offer this week.

The Defence Forces are seeking doctors for their medical corps. Medical officers will have the opportunity to serve overseas, where they will tend to military personnel and may occasionally be expected to provide humanitarian assistance to civilian population. The starting salary is €66,786, with additional allowances for certain qualifications.

An Garda Síochána and the Department of Justice are inviting applications for the post of assistant chief medical officer to be based at the Garda medical department in Phoenix Park, Dublin (€90,102).

The HSE is looking for a consultant cardiologist for University College Hospital and Merlin Park Regional hospitals in Galway. It is also seeking a consultant gastroenterologist and general physician for Galway regional hospitals.

In Limerick, the HSE is inviting applications for the role of consultant general adult psychiatrist with a special interest in rehabilitation for Limerick mental health services. All three positions command salaries of €173,232.

The HSE is inviting applications for the position of director of nursing for Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda with a salary of €71,074-€82,931.

University College Cork's college of medicine and health has begun a major overhaul of its medical curriculum. It is seeking two full-time and two half-time medical education lecturers (€60,336-€79,483) as well as a senior lecturer in medical education and a senior lecturer in healthcare ethics (€65,036-€92,150). The university is also seeking a lecturer in clinical anatomy, a lecturer in clinical physiology and a lecturer in physiology (€60,336-€79,483). A lecturer in pharmacology is also sought for the university's new school of pharmacy (€33,895-€55,061).

University College of Ireland, Galway is seeking two lecturers in pharmacology and therapeutics (€36,763-€52,136).
