The Greystones Protection and Development Association, a residents' group in Greystones, has called on An Bord Pleanála to reopen an oral hearing into the town's proposed marina development, following the submission of revised proposals to the board by Wicklow County Council.
Revised details of the plan went on public display yesterday at the council offices.
The original marina development application, proposed by Wicklow County Council and its private sector partner, Sispar Consortium, includes a new coastguard station, a new beach area, a public boardwalk and 6,400sq m (20,997sq ft) of commercial, mainly marine-related, units. A 15-acre park and a 230-berth marina with a public slipway are also part of the plan.
In return for the refurbishment of the granite pier harbour, which dates from the late 1800s, and the provision of the new facilities, the consortium hoped to build 375 apartments.
Following a hearing in Bray last summer, An Bord Pleanála asked the council to resubmit plans, reducing housing and deleting apartment blocks close to Victorian housing in the area.
