A gunman escaped with a cash box after holding up a security delivery at a shopping centre.

The man, reportedly carrying a handgun, threatened a cash-in-transit worker in Killiney in south Dublin at about 10am.

Gardai said the robber fled the scene in a red Peugeot van, registration 97-WX-1591, and said to have had water dripping from the rear doors.

The hold-up occurred at Killiney shopping centre but the van had been seen parked in the public car park at the back of Euro Spar at the centre prior to the robbery.
