Eight men in Tallaght and one man in Cloghran have been arrested in relation to dissident republican activity.

Gardaí attached to the Special Detective Unit and Crime and Security Section searched a house in Tallaght where the eight were arrested for alleged membership of an illegal organisation. They range in age from mid-20s to mid-40s.

They are being questioned in Garda stations across the west of Dublin city.

A 46-year-old man in Cloghran was arrested following a search of a number of containers in a yard at Cloghran.

During the search, ammunition and parts of explosives were found. The man is being held at Ballymun Garda station.

Investigations in relation to dissident republican activity continue.
