Man held over cash-in-transit robbery

A man is being held following a cash-in-transit robbery yesterday on the Old Bawn Road in Tallaght.

Three men, one armed with a shotgun, confronted a security worker as he was making a cash collection at about 1pm yesterday.

Another man remained in the car and the gang escaped with a sum of money in a silver Avensis car that drove off in the direction of Allenton.

The car was later recovered by gardaí in the Allenton area. No shots were fired during the incident and no-one was injured.

In a follow up operation last night, gardaí searched a house and arrested one man in his early 20s. He is currently detained at Tallaght Garda Station under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
