A 40-year-old man has been arrested after a shooting incident on Cleggan Road in Ballyfermot, Dublin, on Friday night.

At about 8.40pm , a man in his late 30s was shot in the leg as he drove his moped along Cleggan Road towards Ballyfermot Road. He was brought to St. James’s Hospital with injuries described as not life threatening.

The 40-year-old was arrested in the Ballyfermot area and is detained under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act at Ballyfermot Garda Station.

The scene is preserved for a technical examination.
