The  tiny Smart car has one of the worst speeding records in Britain, according to a recent survey.

Despite the 600cc two-seater having a top speed of 85mph, a car magazine survey last week reported that almost 60 per cent of Smart car drivers admitted to being caught by speeding cameras.

Only the Porsche Boxster, with a top speed of 163mph, and the 155mph Saab 9-5 came out worse, with 78 per cent and 70 per cent of drivers respectively saying they had been caught.

Those least likley to be flashed were drivers of a Mitsubishi Colt (15 per cent), Daewoo Matiz (17 per cent), Mitsubishi Carisma (18 per cent), Toyota Yaris (21 per cent) or Honda CR-V (21 per cent).
