Lisney more than doubled its pre-auction guide price for Lisheens, 72 Butterfield Avenue in Rathfarnham, Dublin 14 yesterday fetching €5.2 million under the hammer.
Four parties chased the five-bedroom detached house on 1.1 acres of grounds. It was declared on the market at €4.3 million and knocked down shortly afterwards to a developer.
The strong price underlines the demand for properties with development potential in established neighbourhoods.
In Mount Merrion a modest four-bedroom house at 2 Chestnut Road was sold for €1 million at auction by Sherry FitzGerald while part of its garden was sold for €465,000 as a separate lot.
