Brooklyn star Saoirse Ronan (21) and Web Summit co-founder Daire Hickey (29), have been recognised by Forbes magazine on its annual ‘30 under 30’ list, which lists 600 of the “brightest young entrepreneurs, breakout talents and change agents” for 2016.

The survey compiles a list of 600 global entrepeneurs across 20 different sectors, and in previous years the list has included a host of Irish names including Limerick born entrepreneurs and founders of Stripe, Patrick and John Collison; games designer Terry Cavanagh; golfer Rory McIlroy and CoderDojo co-founder James Whelton.

It’s an illustrious alumni - in 2011, Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg made the grade.

Former journalist Daire Hickey (29) makes the list in media, noted for his efforts in having pulled in more than $2 million in media partnerships for the group’s events in 2015, which included Dublin’s Web Summit as well as other global events including Collision in Las Vegas and Rise in Hong Kong.

Mr Hickey founded Web Summit back in 2010 alongside Paddy Cosgrave and David Kelly.

The event, which brought more than 40,000 people to Dublin’s RDS in November 2015, is set to move to Portugal for 2016.

Other entrepreneurs recognised on the list include serial London entrepreneur Kieran O’Neill, founder of online stylist service Thread, Ben Rubin, cofounder of Life on Air inc, and 28-year-old Bulgarian born Vlad Tenev, co-founder of Robinhood which aims to reinvent the world of stock trading.
