Czech Republic coach Karel Bruckner is confident Milan Baros will be fit for their opening World Cup game against the United States on Monday.

The Aston Villa striker is still hampered by the foot injury he picked up against Trinidad and Tobago in a friendly match last week.

"The doctors are optimistic and it is quite probable Milan Baros will be ready to play in the first game," said Bruckner.

The Czechs arrived in Westenburg yesterday and have already begun their tactical preparations for their game against the USA.

"We have been talking about our opening match since our arrival," added Bruckner.

"I have been watching them on video every day. We still have a lot of things to do and will be working on our movement, shooting, counter-attacking and final passes."
