1 Tyson begins with flurry of left hooks. All miss, an obvious sign of ring rust after 17 months inactivity. Botha looks confident, catching Tyson with a couple of straight right jabs. Round ends with both fighters punching after bell. Seconds, police, security men storm ring. Fighters given warning by referee Richard Steele.

2 Tyson gets official warning for apparent elbow in Botha's face. Tyson complains about Botha's rough-house tactics. Tyson staggers and Botha takes advantage with a sharp right-hand which jolts back Tyson's head. Tyson again throws a punch after bell; seconds and security men again invade the ring but this time the fighters break up without further violence.

3 Botha attacks, pinning Tyson on ropes, but is jolted by superb Tyson right. The South African, however, takes it in his stride and comes back with a flurry of his own. Round turns into grappling contest with Botha trying to push back the smaller Tyson. Tyson's right eye begins to close and he gives his opponent a menacing glare.

4 Botha catches Tyson with powerful right-hander, then goads Tyson, holding his hands low and calling on his opponent. Former world champion responds with left jab on the chin which pops gum shield out of South African's mouth. Round ends with another Botha combination and he returns to his corner to roars of encouragement.

5 Tyson staggers South African with two vicious left hooks. The fight is increasingly becoming a brawl and with eight seconds to go Tyson catches Botha with a spectacular straight right which puts the South African on the canvas. He gets up, staggers around before collapsing once more. Tyson wins by knockout after two minutes 59 seconds and rushes to help his opponent.
