Motor insurance

Sir, – The carefully crafted measures in the budget will soon be scooped up by the spiralling cost of motor insurance.

While the focus of the budget was on housing, which mainly affects the larger cities, the greater part of rural Ireland is dependent on the car for its daily business.

The recent escalation in insurance premiums is a severe shock to rural people locked into a system where the car is an imperative in the absence of public transport.

Have we a Minister with the guts to tackle this corrosive problem? – Yours, etc,

JOHN F FALLON,

Boyle,

Co Roscommon.
