Sir, – With the influx of articles regarding the eclipse in recent days, there was something poignant about it all. It made us pause.
Across the country we saw pictures of people of every age who stopped what they were doing and looked up. For a brief moment, the usual rush of the day seemed to lose that sense of urgency. Whether in a town, by the coast, or in the countryside, there was a shared sense of community as we all were on equal par, drawn to the same sky.
It was a rare moment of collective stillness.
The eclipse offered an opportunity, an interruption to that rhythm, and for a short time there was nothing to accomplish, nothing to catch up on. We simply stood and took in our surroundings.
