Dublin half marathon very well run – and roads too

Credit where credit is due

Sir, – A bit of excitement on Sunday morning getting out to support the half marathon runners – in fairness, not much more effort required than getting out of pjs and opening the door. After walking over to catch them coming back in, I rewarded myself with a pastry from a local bakery, also on the route, and walked home.

As I made it back home by 11am, I was astonished to see that Dublin City Council had all three roads back to normal, all evidence of the race gone and barricades cleared and kilometre markings and signage noting the roads was part of the course taken down.

While it can be easy to give out about the council, and I surely can myself, credit where credit is due as it was very well run with very little disruption for those cranky Croke Park residents we often hear about. – Yours, etc,

NIAMH BYRNE,
