Sir,– According to Liz Carolan (“Could Irish politics be in for a ‘brat’ autumn?”, Opinion & Analysis, September 7th), “Money, quite literally, talks”.

The term “pathetic fallacy” springs to mind; although the use of “literally” as an intensifier in this particular instance is quite understandable. – Yours, etc,
