Sir, – The digital stamp innovation from A Post sounds very useful, and I thank Ally Bunbury for making me aware of it (“Completing the letter writing process is tough for a procrastinator”, Life, May 24th).
It overcomes one of the main hurdles to sending letters.
The other modern-day awkwardness is having to text the recipient to get their address. This, of course, takes away the frisson of surprise that might otherwise accompany receiving an old-fashioned letter.
Nonetheless I’m generally thankful for the necessity come December when a text asking for my postal address finally prompts me into buying, and often even writing, cards.
