A US soldier was killed onFriday when his vehicle drove over an explosive device in therestive western town of Falluja, bringing the death toll to 148,surpassing the total American fatalities in the 1991 Gulf War.
A US military spokeswoman said the soldier's Humveevehicle drove off the road after the explosion in the town 50 km west of Baghdad.
