Two viable improvised bombs were made safe in a residential area of Dublin today.
An Army bomb disposal team tackled the explosive devices, which were found on open ground near blocks of flats in St Theresa’s Gardens, following a request from the Garda.
A Defence Forces statement said: “The IEDs were set to detonate, and packaged against the elements.”
It added: “They may have been left for transportation and use at a later date.”

They devices had the potential to explode or be detonated, according to the military.
After a 90-minute clearance operation - during which controlled explosions were not used - the remains of the devices were handed over to gardaí at the scene for investigation.
