Three men from Dungiven in south Derry were charged yesterday with conspiracy to murder after an incident in the town last weekend.
The defendants, who appeared at the Magistrates' Court in Belfast, were Mr Edward Grieve (35), from Main Street; his cousin, Mr Finbar Grieve (18), of Pellipar Park; and Mr Michael O'Neill (25), from Curragh Road.
They were also charged with possessing a homemade grenade, a rifle, two magazines and 53 rounds of ammunition with intent to endanger life.
A detective sergeant said Mr O'Neill replied "not guilty" and the other defendants made no reply. He believed he could connect all three defendants with the charges.
