A retired schoolteacher, Mr John Patrick Berry (49), Ridgeway Park North, Portadown, appeared at Craigavon Magistrates Court yesterday on nine charges which allege indecent assaults on nine male persons over a 21 year period.
An application by a defence solicitor requesting that the defendant's name be withheld from publication was rejected by the resident magistrate. The hearing was adjourned to Craigavon Magistrates Court on November 1st. Mr Berry was granted continuing bail.
