Irish outlets of the British-based pharmacy chain Boots performed strong in the fist six-months of the year.
The company today announced that its like-for-like sales at its core premises rose 2.9 per cent. The second quarter performance to the end of September was weaker than the 4.7 per cent same-store growth reported in the previous three months, although Boots said this was due to tough comparisons with last year.
According to the Boots spokesperson in Ireland the 30 Irish outlets have had "excellent performances in health and beauty" products.
Two new stores are planned in Limerick and Clonmel and will open in time for Christmas, as part of €43 million investment that will open 13 new stores over the next three years.
The company employs more than 1,200 in its Irish stores. The Boots group announced a second quarter sales growth of 3 per cent. below analysts' expectations.
