Shop manager's family held hostage in Louth

The family of a supermarket manager were held hostage at their in Co Louth by an armed gang demanding money this morning.

The family of a supermarket manager were held hostage at their in Co Louth by an armed gang demanding money this morning.

Gardaí in Drogheda are investigating the incident, which happened in the Dunleer/Togher area at about 8.20 am.

The family were held in their home by the gang, at least one of whom had a gun. Gardaí said the gang fled empty handed and that nobody was injured.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses who may have seen a green Toyota Hiace van in the area between 8am and 9am.
