The week that was at a glance
Richer
Bill Gates is no longer the world's richest man.
He's been overtaken by Carlos Slim, the Mexican head of Latin
America's largest mobile phone operator. Worth an estimated $67.8
billion (150 million), it makes him $8.6 billion (16.3 billion)
richer than Gates, who is struggling by on a meagre $59.2 (143.5
billion).
Poorer
Al Gore's son, Al Gore III, was arrested on speeding and drug
charges. Police say he was found with cannabis and a wide selection
of prescription drugs - for which he had no prescription.
Thankfully he was driving an enviromentally friendly Toyota Prius
at the time. Otherwise, the shame would have been too much.
We Now Know...
Bus usage has halved along Luas lines since the
trams came into service. Car journeys, on the other hand, have
barely decreased. A poll claims that 80 per cent of people in the
North say they have confidence in the PSNI.
