SDLP hopeful over McAleese

The SDLP chairman, Mr Jonathan Stephenson, has said Mrs Mary McAleese's Presidency could make a real contribution to reconciling the two traditions in the North. He said it was precisely because she came from the Northern nationalist community and took pride in those origins that she could become an effective bridge between the communities.
