Beijing - President Vladimir Putin of Russia arrived in Beijing late yesterday for his first visit to China since taking office. Mr Putin will discuss strengthening bilateral economic and military relations and co-operation in the international arena with President Jiang Zemin of China.
Mr Putin's Asian tour will also take him to North Korea tomorrow and to the G8 summit in Japan at the weekend. His visit to North Korea is the first by any Russian or Soviet leader.
