Police in the North have issued a new appeal for information after the sectarian stabbing of a 16-year-old Catholic boy in Belfast on Thursday.

John Campbell is critically ill in hospital after a man in a passing car stopped, asked a question and proceeded to stab John in the neck and back. The incident happened on Glantane Drive in the Skegoneil area of Belfast.

A PSNI spokesman said today they were looking for information on a white Rover car, registration number PXI 8066. They want to trace the movements of the car which was found burnt out on Clanmorris Street yesterday morning.

Detectives are treating the attack on the teenager as attempted murder.
