A new, privately-operated bus service between Swords and Dublin city centre begins operations this morning.

The first Swords Express is due to leave from the Pavilions Shopping Centre at 6.34am. Using the Dublin Port Tunnel, the journey time to the city centre is expected to be about 35 minutes. The fare is €3 each way.

The company plans to provide four services in the hour before 8.30am with a lesser frequency during the day.

The route utilises regular bus lanes as well as the Dublin Port Tunnel and will use the proposed bus corridor along North Wall Quay and the Macken Street Bridge, when they are developed. The Dublin end of the route is George's Quay, while buses depart for Swords from Eden Quay.
