The new terminal at Belfast City Airport - built at a cost of £21 million sterling - opened today for business.

Operators say that the new 100,000 sq ft building at Sydenham in East Belfast has facilities to rival regional airportsanywhere in the world.

The terminalfeatures20 check-in desks, fast-track business facilities and executive boarding lounges.

It will replace theold terminal, which has been struggling to cope with the huge increase intraffic, up fifteen-fold since the airport re-opened for civilianpassengersin 1983.
