Paris - Eight European countries approved the use of the controversial French-made "morning after" birth control pill yesterday, according to its manufacturers.

Exelgyn, maker of Mifegyne, said Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Finland, Greece and the Netherlands had registered the drug with the London-based European Medicine Agency.
