Ottawa, Tuesday.
The Dominion House of Commons this afternoon sat with closed doors to discuss a recent ruling of the Speaker, prohibiting the employment by members of the House of the messenger service for the procuring of liquor from the Government vendors' stores.
A strong protest was made against the ruling as being a reflection on members and an abrogation of the long-established privilege of members to use the messenger service at their discretion.
The question had been given some publicity in the Canadian Press, and a number of members of Parliament strenuously objected to what they regarded as an unwarranted reflection on the habits of members of the House.
