Eleven members of the Anti-Racism Campaign who staged a sit-in at the Taoiseach's constituency office in north Dublin yesterday were arrested by gardai when they refused to leave the premises. They were later released and files have been sent to the DPP.
The ARC, formed in 1997, has an address on the Internet, http:// flag.blackened.net. This says the campaign was formed "in response to growing racism in Dublin and throughout Ireland".
ARC says it supports equal rights for refugees and immigrants - work, welfare, housing and entry into Ireland. "We also oppose the racist treatment that has been experienced by Travellers [an Irish ethnic minority]."
The organisation is against immigration controls, the statement says.
