A man has been cleared by a jury at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court of threatening to burn down a publican's family home.

Judge Michael Moriarty discharged Mr Sean Connolly of Shelbourne Road, Dublin but banned him from the Seapoint House bar at Irishtown.

The bar owner, Mr Patrick McCarthy, had alleged Mr Connolly had threatened to burn down his family home in Swords unless he dropped an assault charge against another named person and lifted a ban on that man. Mr Connolly denied issuing the threat.
