Man (18) shot in Limerick city centre

Gardaí in Limerick are investigating the shooting of man in the city this evening.

Gardaí in Limerick are investigating the shooting of man in the city this evening.

The incident occurred at 5.45pm in the Parnell Street area of the city.

The 18-year-old received a gunshot wound to his upper body.  After trying to make his escape he collapsed in front of traffic before the emergency services arrived and took him to St. John's Hospital.

He was moved to Limerick Regional  Hospital soon afterwards where his injuries were described as not life-threatening.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the shooting or anybody with information about the incident to contact them at Roxboro Road Garda Station on 061 214340.
