BEIJING - Tibet yesterday marked the 45th anniversary of an accord with Beijing on the region's "liberation" by the ruling Communist Party.

The anniversary coincided with attempts by officials to put down anti Chinese unrest and with a call by the Dalai Lama, Tibet's spiritual leader whose pictures have this month been banned, for Tibet's demilitarisation.
