A campaign to have the Book of Kells brought to an exhibition in Kells, Co Meath, will continue, a member of the campaign said last night. A spokesman for Kells Urban District Council said it would not accept Trinity College's decision that the book could not leave the university because it was "too fragile". The campaign would be taken up "at a political level". A spokesman for the university said the book would not be travelling again as damage to it recently on a trip to Canberra, Australia, was "a reminder of its fragility".
