Toddler dies after being hit by tractor in Co Cork

Father of boy (1) raised alarm on farm near Killeagh in East Cork this afternoon

A one-year-old boy has died after being knocked down by a tractor on a farm near Killeagh in East Cork at around 12.30pm this afternoon.

The boy’s father raised the alarm and the emergency services were called.

Paramedics worked to try and save the little boy, but he was later pronounced dead at the scene. It is understood his body is due to be removed to Cork University Hospital later for a post-mortem.

Both the Gardaí and the Health and Safety Authority have launched separate investigations into the death, which gardaí described as "a tragic accident".
