The national president of the St Vincent de Paul Society, Mr Noel Cleere, said yesterday that the traditional concept of poverty based on financial and material criteria had rightly been challenged. "People have many other needs, social, emotional, cultural, recreational and spiritual," he said.
He was speaking at the opening of five homes of the Drombane/Upperchurch voluntary housing group at Drom bane, Thurles.
