Go nuts for nuts

Nuts are nature’s ultimate fast food: portable and tasty, they can offer a surprisingly satisfying snack on the run. Of course if you have a nut allergy they are to be avoided, but if you can tolerate them they contain not only protein, vitamins, minerals and fibre, but also beneficial fats.

Nuts tend to be quite “energy dense” and high in calories for their size, so don’t go overboard if you are watching your weight, and opt for the unsalted varieties. Better yet, buy them in their shells and burn off some calories opening them with a nutcracker!
