Gardaí in Cork investigating organised crime have recovered a handgun.
A Garda spokesman said the gun was recovered during a number of searches in the east Cork area in recent days. The searches were part of ongoing investigations into organised crime and drug-related activity.
The weapon has been forwarded to the Garda Technical Bureau for forensic examination. No arrests have been made to date and enquiries are ongoing, the spokesman said.
