A £200,000 grant towards the development of the award-winning visitor centre in the former Irish Lights signal station at Mizen Head has been given by the Department of Agriculture and West Cork LEADER Co-operative.

At the weekend, the Minister for Agriculture, Mr Walsh, visited Mizen Head to announce the grant towards the development of Mizen Vision, the visitor centre which opened in 1994.

The new funding will provide facilities beside the car-park including a tea-room, shop, toilets, exhibits, displays and an audio-visual presentation room.
