Gardaí seize drugs, arrest two in Tipperary

Gardaí in Tipperary yesterday seized drugs with an estimated street value of €117,500.

As part of an operation targeting drug dealing, gardaí stopped a van shortly after 2pm outside Portlaoise and found 5kg of cannabis resin along with 5kg of cannabis grass estimated to have a street value of €95,000.

According to gardaí, the male driver (34) was arrested and taken to Thurles Garda Station where he is being held under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act.

Gardaí carried out two follow-up searches on houses in the Borrisoleigh area of Tipperary and found cannabis resin and herb with an estimated street value of €18,500 along with heroin with a estimated street value of €4,000.

A man (32) was arrested at the scene and is being held at Templemore Garda station, also under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act.
