Gardaí in Co Galway are continuing to hunt an armed gang who raided a pub in the early hours of yesterday morning after following a bar manager home from work.
The bar manager who worked at the Pucán Pub on Forester Street in Galway City, had locked up the premises at around 2.30 am and made his way home.
Fifty minutes after arriving back at his apartment in Gort na Glas on the Sandy Road, three men, one of whom was armed with a shotgun and another who had a machete, managed to gain access.
Five people living in the apartment were tied up and two of the gang members brought the bar manager back to the pub where they stole an undisclosed sum.
Gardaí said that the occupants of the house freed themselves and raised the alarm at 5.30am. No one was injured in the incident and there were no arrests.
Both premises have been sealed off for forensic investigations.
