Two men armed with metal bars assaulted a security man who was about to service an ATM in Maynooth.

The men stole a box containing an undisclosed quantity of cash and fled the scene. Gardaí believe that a third raider drove a green Mazda 323 hatchback in which they escaped.

The security worker was not seriously injured.

The first man was described by gardaí as 1.8 metres tall, of medium build wearing a navy hoodie, beige trousers and black and white runners. The second man was described as wearing blue jeans, a grey top and a blue jacket.

Gardaí would like anyone with information or anyone in the Dublin Road area between 10.30am and 11am today to contact Maynooth Garda station on 01-6292380.
