Funk completes World Match Play field

American Fred Funk has been named as the 12th man to play in next month's World Match Play Championship at Wentworth.

American Fred Funk has been named as the 12th man to play in next month's World Match Play Championship at Wentworth.

Funk will join British Open champion Ernie Els and 2001 US Open winner Retief Goosen in the matchplay event from October 17th to 20th.

The 46-year-old was joint runner-up at the Buick Open in August, his fourth top ten finish in 2002, and tied for fourth in the US PGA Championship.

At the WGC-NEC Invitational a week later he finished second in a field that included the top 50 players in the world.
